"Abdominoplasty removes excess abdominal skin and fat and repairs separated muscles (diastasis), creating a flatter, firmer abdomen unattainable by diet and exercise alone."
Your journey
Consultation
Assessment of skin laxity, muscle separation, and fat distribution. Determining a full or mini abdominoplasty approach.
Preparation
Medical clearance, stopping blood-thinning medication, optimising nutrition for healing.
Incision & Muscle Repair
Low horizontal incision at the bikini line. Abdominal muscles are sutured to the midline, eliminating diastasis.
Skin Excision
Excess skin is excised. The navel is repositioned naturally. Skin is redraped for a smooth, taut contour.
Recovery
Bent posture for the first week. Compression for 6 weeks. Heavy activity resumes at 6–8 weeks.
Rehabilitation
Hospital
1–2 days inpatient. Drains. Bent posture to relieve tension on the sutures.
Bent walking
Walking in a bent position. Lifting is restricted. Full rest.
Suture removal
Sutures and drains removed. Compression binder continues for 6 weeks.
Return to activity
Return to work. Light walks. The abdomen is flat; swelling subsides gradually.
Final result
A flat, firm abdomen. The repositioned navel looks natural. The scar fades.
Scar progression
How the scar changes — from surgery to final result
Scars are placed within natural skin folds and become virtually unnoticeable over time. Proper care and sun protection speed up the fading process. For most patients, the scar blends with the surrounding skin within 12–18 months.
Suture removal
The scar is pink-red and slightly raised. Scar care begins — silicone gel or tape.
Active healing
Colour darkens to deep pink. The scar may thicken — this is normal. Avoid sun exposure and wear compression garments.
Maturation
The scar lightens, softens, and flattens. Itching and heightened sensitivity fade.
Final appearance
The scar takes on a silvery-beige tone and becomes barely visible, aligning with underwear lines.
