For Patients
Preparing for Surgery
For a safe and successful surgery, we recommend following the guidelines below. Please confirm the specific instructions for your case with your doctor during your consultation.
Consultation and Tests
Complete a thorough consultation with your doctor, discuss your medical history, and complete all required tests.
Current Medications
Tell your doctor about all medications, vitamins, and supplements you are taking. Aspirin and other blood-thinning or anti-inflammatory medications should typically be stopped 7–10 days before surgery (only under your doctor's guidance).
Smoking and Alcohol
It's recommended to stop smoking at least 3–4 weeks before surgery and throughout recovery — this significantly affects wound healing. Alcohol should also be avoided.
Day of Surgery
Do not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours before surgery (as directed by your doctor). Wear comfortable, loose clothing and leave valuables at home.
Going Home and Support
Arrange in advance for a close friend or family member to drive you home after surgery and stay with you the first night.
Preparing for Recovery
Take a few days or weeks off work, arrange help around the house, and closely follow all of your doctor's recovery instructions.
